Krewe of Endymion - a Mardi Gras krewe named for Endymion was king who was loved by the moon goddess Selene in Greek mythology. Some say Selene asked Zeus to grant Endymion immortality and eternal sleep so she could visit him every night. Others say Zeus punished Endymion with eternal sleep for attempting to seduce his wife, Hera. In some versions, Zeus offered Endymion any destiny he desired, and Endymion chose eternal sleep to remain young forever.
